Farace's Finest: The Pizza Spot Worth a Restaurant Week Trip to Inlet Avenue

House-made dough, fresh-grated parmesan reggiano, and a patio that keeps growing. Restaurant Week ends August 17 — here's why Farace's Finest is worth the walk before it does.

Edited by Chirag Tailor

Restaurant Week ends August 17. If Farace's Finest has been on your list and you haven't gotten to it yet, this is the nudge — there's still time, and it's worth rearranging an evening for.

We don't spotlight every Restaurant Week participant this deeply. Most of the eight get a paragraph in our full list of where to eat and that's the right amount of space for what they are. Farace's Finest gets its own post because there's enough going on here — the founder's background, the in-house dough and marinara, a patio that's actively growing — to be worth more than a paragraph, Restaurant Week or not.

What it is

Farace's Finest opened in March 2025 at 1605 Inlet Avenue, on the edge of Tybee's south-end restaurant cluster. The person who opened it spent twenty years at Atlanta's SweetWater Brewery before deciding the next move was a pizza shop on a barrier island — a specific kind of career pivot that shows up in the details once you're standing at the counter. This isn't a franchise or a menu built to move volume fast. It's a small operation built around a few things done correctly: pizza, sandwiches, salads, and a patio that's still being worked on because the owner keeps wanting to make it better.

Twenty years in a brewery's production and hospitality side teaches a specific set of instincts — consistency, quality control, the discipline of doing the same process the same way every single time so the product doesn't drift. Those are unglamorous skills, but they're exactly the ones a small food business needs in its first eighteen months, when the temptation to cut a corner on a busy Saturday is highest. Farace's Finest reads like a business built by someone who already knew that lesson before opening day, rather than learning it the hard way in year one.

It's a newer name than most of what's on Tybee's south end — the island's restaurant scene skews toward places that have been open for decades — which makes it worth watching. A little over a year in, it's already established enough to be one of Tybee Island Main Street's eight confirmed Restaurant Week participants for 2026, which says something about how quickly it's built a following.

Why it's worth the trip

The dough and the marinara are both made in-house, which is a real claim on an island where plenty of pizza gets trucked in par-baked. Every pie is finished with fresh-grated parmesan reggiano — not the shelf-stable canister stuff, the real block, grated to order. It's a small choice that changes the whole plate, and it's the kind of detail a brewery veteran notices matters even when it would be easier to skip.

There's no inside seating. Farace's is a to-go operation, which sounds like a limitation until you see the patio — one of the best on the island, according to regulars, and it's expanding as the business grows into the space. That's worth reading as a signal: this is a place investing in itself a year and a half after opening, not coasting on a strong first season.

It's also dog-friendly, which matters more than it sounds like on a trip where you've brought the dog and every other dinner option means someone stays back at the room. Order, sit outside, let the dog sit under the table. Nobody minds.

None of this is Restaurant Week theater. Farace's Finest is a genuinely good pizza and sandwich spot that happens to be running a Restaurant Week special during the event's two weeks — the kind of place we'd point you to in any month, not just this one. Exactly what's on the Restaurant Week menu wasn't locked down as of this post; call ahead at (912) 428-8311 or check in when you arrive to see what they're featuring for the event. Either way, a straightforward pizza off the regular menu is a safe, good order.

The salads and sandwiches round out the menu for anyone who's had enough pizza that week — useful to know if you're stopping in more than once during Restaurant Week, or if someone in your group wants something lighter after a full beach day.

Practical: hours, location, parking, cost

Location: 1605 Inlet Ave, on Tybee's south end, a few blocks in from the beach near the Tybrisa Street and 1st Street restaurant cluster.

Phone: (912) 428-8311.

Hours: Monday, and Wednesday through Saturday, 11:30 AM–9 PM. Closed Tuesdays — worth checking your calendar before you plan an evening around it.

Seating: Patio only, no indoor dining room. The patio is expanding, but on a busy Restaurant Week evening you may still be waiting on a table or taking your order to go.

Parking: Tybee is metered island-wide in season, $4/hour via the Park Tybee app. Street parking near Inlet Avenue is workable but not guaranteed on weekend evenings — from the inn, the walk down Butler Avenue to the south end runs fifteen to twenty minutes, which is often the easier call than circling for a spot.

Cost: Counter-service pricing typical of a to-go pizza and sandwich shop — order at the counter, pay when you order, no need to budget for tip-heavy table service.

Tips locals know

Weekday visits — Monday, or Wednesday and Thursday — are noticeably quieter than the Friday-through-Saturday rush, which matters more here than at a sit-down restaurant since patio seats are limited and there's no indoor overflow. If you're visiting during Restaurant Week specifically, expect the final weekend before the August 17 close to be the busiest stretch, as people who've been meaning to go all event make their move.

Because there's no inside seating, weather is part of the plan. Check the forecast before you walk down, or be ready to take your order back to the inn if a summer storm rolls through — it happens fast on Tybee in August, and there's no dining room to duck into if it does.

Order simply. The dough and the marinara are the two things this kitchen is proudest of, and a straightforward pie lets both of them do the talking rather than getting buried under toppings. Save the more elaborate topping combinations for a second visit, once you know what the base product tastes like.

Closed Tuesdays is easy to forget mid-trip. If Tuesday is the only night that works for your group, build in a backup — Nickie's or Windrose are both open that night if Farace's doesn't line up with your schedule.

What's nearby that pairs well

Sand Cat Coffee is a few blocks over at 602 1st Street — good for an after-dinner coffee or a scoop of ice cream if the patio meal left room for more. Sugar Shack, also on 1st Street, has been serving Tybee ice cream for more than fifty years and is an easy add-on to the same walk. If you're making a full evening of the south end, Sea Wolf Tybee and Windrose are both within a few blocks too — see our full Restaurant Week list for the rest of the cluster.

The whole south-end cluster is close enough to string together on foot, which is part of what makes Farace's Finest a good anchor for an evening rather than a one-off stop. Pizza on the patio, a short walk to Sand Cat Coffee or Sugar Shack for dessert, maybe a stop at Windrose afterward if the night's still young — it's a realistic three-stop evening without needing a car once you've made the walk down from Butler Avenue.

A pizza shop, not a Restaurant Week gimmick

It's worth saying plainly: nothing about Farace's Finest was built for this event. It opened over a year before Restaurant Week 2026 was ever scheduled, and it'll still be open the Tuesday after the event closes, making the same dough and the same marinara it was making in March 2025. Restaurant Week is a reason to go this particular week — not the reason the place exists, and not something that changes what's actually good about it. That's the difference between a spotlight-worthy business and a business that only makes sense in the context of a promotion.

The Restaurant Week window

Tybee Restaurant Week runs through August 17 — organized by Tybee Island Main Street, no tickets required, format varies by business. Farace's Finest is one of eight confirmed participants this year, alongside Sea Wolf Tybee, Windrose, The Surfing Goat, Sand Cat Coffee, Sugar Shack, Nickie's 1971 Bar and Grill, and The Deck Beachbar and Kitchen. For the full picture — dates, parking, where to stay — see our Tybee Restaurant Week overview, or our weekend itinerary if you want it mapped out hour by hour.

Admiral's Inn is part of the Tybee Lodging Group family of inns, alongside Sandcastle Inn, Sea and Breeze Hotel and Condo, Dunes Inn & Suites, and Atlantis Inn — each a different base on the island, all within reach of Inlet Avenue.

Restaurant Week closes out in a few days. Check availability here if you want to make the trip down to Farace's Finest before it does — we're one block from the beach, with the south-end cluster a walkable fifteen minutes south.

FAQ

Common questions.
